So what
Cash still dominates daily payments across much of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, at 90% or more in Myanmar, Ethiopia, Pakistan and Nepal. At the other end, the Nordics, Australia, China and South Korea have gone largely cashless, at 10-15%. The striking cases are in the middle: Mexico (80%), India (70%) and even Japan and Austria (around 60%) show that payment habits lag income, an opportunity for digital payment players and a resilience argument for keeping cash infrastructure.
